The Shosoin Treasures are given treasure number according to the sections of the repository, in which they were originally stored: the North Section includes those artifacts related to Emperor Shōmu; the Middle Section contains the documents and objects related to the Todaiji Construction Bureau; and the South Section houses Buddhist and ritual implements used at the Todaiji temple.
